Joshua Tree, Ca

August 30, 2025

If you're dreaming of a serene escape to tie the knot with your partner, than an intimate Joshua Tree Elopement at The Folly might be exactly what you're looking for. Nestled in the heart of the Mojave Desert, this stunning architectural retreat offers couples a one-of-a-kind backdrop for a deeply personal wedding experience. Having your elopement The Folly in Joshua tree might just be one of the most magical places to get married in Southern California. Over the past few years, Joshua Tree has become one of the most sought-after destinations for couples who want a wedding that feels intentional, adventurous, and free from traditional expectations. One of my favorite parts about The Folly Joshua Tree wedding venue is how peaceful it truly is. Can you image yourself sipping your coffee together by the pool while looking out into the vast desert, with no one around you? Maybe you can see yourself saying your vows as the sun slowly sets on the mountains in the distance? Having a Joshua Tree Elopement would feel as though you and your partner are the only humans in the world.

Here are some tips to planning your elopement from a Joshua Tree Elopement Photographer:

If you're considering eloping in Joshua Tree, here are a few helpful tips:

1. Plan Around the Desert Light

Sunrise and sunset provide the most beautiful lighting for photos. Many couples choose a sunset ceremony followed by portraits during golden hour. You simply cannot beat a desert sunset.

2. Prepare for Desert Weather

Joshua Tree can have big temperature swings between day and night. Bring layers, especially if you're celebrating after sunset. Additionally, summer months can bring very high temps. If this is not something you're used to or can handle, I highly recommend eloping in Joshua Tree in the cooler months like Nov-May. It can also get very windy. Let go and embrace the wind!

3. Embrace a Relaxed Timeline

One of the best parts of eloping is slowing down. Plan time to explore, enjoy the scenery, and soak in the experience together. You can always start your morning with a trip to a local Joshua Tree Coffee Shop, and then come back to your Joshua Tree Airbnb to begin to get ready.

4. Hire Vendors Who Know Joshua Tree

Local vendors understand the lighting, weather, and best locations for photos, making the entire experience smoother. If you're looking for a Joshua Tree Photographer, I am a desert native and love a desert experience.

5. While eloping inside Joshua Tree National Park is also a beautiful option, when eloping at your Airbnb you don't have to worry about strangers watching you + you won't have to worry about any permits. Be sure to check in with your host to ensure they allow photoshoots on property. If you're hosting guests in addition to you and your partner, be sure to let your Joshua Tree Airbnb or VRBO know that you will be hosting guests. There may be additional fee's required.

Bold colored wedding florals are the perfect option for a Joshua Tree elopement because they bring a beautiful contrast to the desert scenery. They also bring an extra pop to the Folly's architecture. Which is simple yet luxurious and grounded in nature.
